Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Legacy of Hatred

Evan and Shiva dodged the flames and waited for them to dissipate. 

"Okay, apparently we made a truce with the damn Primarina..." Evan griped. "I guess that Rain Dance would be a smart thing for now, Shiv."

"On it." she said, flapping her wings as rain started to fall, clouds forming on the ceiling, "Oh goodie, looks like I didn't need to be outside for it to work."

"Nice." Evan said succinctly, blasting out another Water Pulse at the Heatran.

The rain Shiva summons douses some of the Heatran's flames. It charges up another flamethrower but Evan's Water Pulse evaporates the fire in its mouth.

"... They're with you? They're surprisingly effective." - Thalassa says with an impressed chuckle.

"There's a reason why I don't just do everything for them." - Reversa says with a smug shrug.

The Bisharp charges in and smashes her fist against the Heatran's now cooled-off jaw. It nearly topples it over backwards from the force of her punch while Nina fires out balls of psychic energy that pelt the legendary.
 
Thalassa summons more water bombs with a high pitched tone and makes them float over to the Heatran. They rupture and explode with enough water to flood the area and douse the magma nearby into heated rock.

The Heatran makes a sluggish stride towards the group. It stumbles as it opens it mouth to shoot out another wave of fire. It coughs up cinders instead and falls flat to the ground.

"Did... did we actually just take out a legendary?" - Nina says with a stunned look on her face.

"Huh. That we did!" - Thalassa says with a beaming smile.

She turns to face the Bisharp, Shiva and Evan. Her warm smile turns into a cold grimace with sharp eyes.

"But now that just leaves us with who's going to take the Mystic Power..." - The Primarina remarks.

"Wow, these guys are really powerful..." Sorin whispered.

The three could feel the tension rise in the room. Sorin and Barek both looked to the Primarina's group, then the Bisharp's group. Unsure about what to do, they turned to Eser. He flattened his ears and darted his eyes to each of the Pokemon.

That Absol and Golbat... they were definitely the ones from before. They're definitely up to no good. At the very least, them getting the Mystic Power would be terrible. But... Eser looked back over to Nina and Thalassa. I don't know who these two are either.

"Where are those damn bandits when you need them..." Eser mumbled.

"I...I did it." Evan gasped. "It actually worked."

"We did it, friendo." Shiva muttered. "I did not expect that to work..."

Shiva and Evan returned sharp glances to the Primarina.

"I mean, we deserve it because we tore ass through that Heatran." Evan said. "But you won't let that go without a fight..."

Shiva glances at Reversa, giving her a "what do we do?" look.

The Bisharp shrugs and gives a calm smile.

"Oh, that's right. You were great help, but..." - Reversa chuckles.

In a lightning-fast motion, she chucks an iron thorn at the Primarina. Thalassa smacks it away with a jet of water but notices Reversa charge towards the ball of fire.

"I swear at this point I'm authorized to use deadly force. Nina, try to slow her down at least!" - Thalassa shouts to Nina.

The Meloetta nods and charges up a light-yellow orb of energy over her head. She shoots it towards the Bisharp only to miss and strike a portion of the statue she was standing on. The force of the blow annihilates the entire left side of the stone Jangmo-o and shakes the cave.

Reversa digs her arm through the solid rock and climbs up the statue.

"Ah! No you don't!" Sorin flew up to Reversa's level and let loose a Thunderbolt. "We won't let you have it!"

Eser silently swore to himself and turned his attention to the Bisharp's two accomplices. Please don't have Sucker Punch... Eser thought as he readied a Psybeam from the jewel on his forehead.

Evan noticed Eser and immediately launched a Sucker Punch at him.

"Hello? Dark-type." Evan said mockingly. "Any self-respecting dark-type carries Sucker Punch."

Shiva noticed Sorin going towards Reversa.

"Not on my watch." she muttered to herself. "Hope this works..."

Shiva flew after Sorin, focused, and let out a Hypnosis.

Reversa dodges the thunderbolt by dropping down a level and digs her hands back into the statue. She crawls back up the rock only for one of Thalassa's water bombs to explode next to her. It flings her against the arm of the statue but she clings onto it with her arm.

She flips onto its elbow and gives a sarcastic salute to the Primarina.

"Damn it!" - Thalassa yells.

The Bisharp jumps onto the palm of the statue and extends her arm towards the flaming sphere. It fades through without burning up but a kick from an altered Nina knocks her against the ground. She looks back up to see her hair had changed from long and green to coiled up and red.

She taunts the Bisharp with a hand motion.

"Bring it on."

"Now this is getting interesting." - Reversa says with a smug chuckle.

Annoyed that his attack was so easily dodged, Sorin readied another Thunderbolt, but noticed Shiva flying up behind him. He turned to look just as Shiva let out her Hypnosis. Suddenly, Sorin felt very sleepy. He did his best to stay awake, but couldn't help but drift to the ground before dozing off.

"H-hey!" Barek ran up to him and nudged the Emolga with his paw. "Wake up!"

It was no use, Sorin was out like a light. Barek turned towards Shiva and growled. The ends of his fur sparked as he charged himself with electricity.

"Rrrrrraaaaaah!" he cried as he charged for the Golbat.

Meanwhile, after being thrown to the ground by Evan's Sucker Punch, Eser pushed himself back onto his feet. They wobbled slightly.

"Guess it shows how much I respect you..." he said. Freaking dark types. After deciding his next move, Eser launched himself into a Quick Attack, hoping to out-speed Evan.

Shiva went and Protected herself, but she stumbled slightly and let the barrier down a few seconds too early, causing her to get a significant amount of electricity.

"Damnit, kid." she grunted. "You're REALLY gonna get it now."

As she regained her composure, she smirked. She could definitely pull this better than Evan.

"You don't want to hurt little ol' me, do you?" Shiva said seductively, as pink hearts emanated from her body. "You've surely heard it's not nice to hit a lady."

Evan smiled to himself.

That's my girl.


Distracted, Eser managed to get that Quick Attack off, knocking Evan to the ground.

"Nice hit, kid." he grunted, retaliating with a Quick Attack of his own.

Reversa jabs at Nina with the sharpened blades on her hands but she dodges out of the way and lands a devastating right hook that throws the Bisharp against one of the statue's fingers.

Nina runs over with her fists out but is intercepted by Reversa kicking her into the gut. It flings her back and forces her to cling onto the statue's arm.

"Don't think it'll be that easy..." - Nina mutters to herself.

Reversa grabs the prism out of the blue flames and holds it close. She glares at it with a sparkle in her eyes.

"It's so beautiful..." 

As Reversa holds the prism in her hands, white reflective armor materializes over her entire body. A red visor appears over her eyes and blue fire erupts from her hands to her elbows.

"... Well would you look at that? Ha! It works!" - Reversa says with a gloating laugh.

Nina flies in from behind and strikes the Bisharp in the back with a jump kick. The force of her kick cracks the armor and propels both of them off of the statue's hand.

The prism slips out of Reversa's gloves, its armor disappearing off of her.

"Oh no, it's going to break!" - Nina yells while in mid-fall.

This time it was Eser's turn to be thrown to the ground. This was obviously a losing battle, but one he hoped would at least distract the Absol and Golbat long enough for the Primarina and Meloetta to obtain the Mystic Power. Giving himself time to lay on the ground, Eser looked over to the rest of the fight.

Barek gulped. All of a sudden, Shiva was the most beautiful Golbat he had ever seen. Admittedly the bar was very low, but *wow.* Her wings were meticulously shaped, her round body so comforting, and that giant mouth...

"OH MY GOD BAREK," Eser yelled at him. "You're just experiencing pheromones designed to give you an artificially inflated sex drive it's entirely chemical and you're REALLY going to hate yourself when it wears off!" When Barek didn't respond, Eser added, "Just think gay thoughts or something!"

He then noticed the Mystic Power falling towards the ground. Shit, even if he hadn't been wasting time on his side he still wouldn't be fast enough to grab it...

A navy blue blur whizzed by and snatched the prism out of the air. It came to a stop by the statue, revealing a Weavile adorned with random treasures from her earlier plundering.

"Well well, what is this?" she said, admiring her new treasure. "This wouldn't happen to be that Mystic Power everyone's been going on about? I imagined it would be a bit more drab, like some rusted old sword, but *this* is just marvelous. Look dear," she held out the prism so a Salazzle in the distance could see. "Doesn't this just go so well with our treasures from yesterday?"

"Perfectly," he laughed.

Rhapsody gave the Mystic Power a tap, and her body was covered in the white armor from before.

"Well now," she said, admiring herself. "I think it's time for us to skedaddle. Hallows, if you'd be so kind..."

The Salazzle walked out from the shadows, revealing one of the crystals the bandits stole the other day. Its burning red glow engulfed him as he tilted his head back and created a fireball that got bigger, and bigger, and bigger.

"Sayonara," Rhapsody said. "It's been fun."

She darted out of the way as Hallows unleashed the Inferno Overdrive.

Shiva catches Reversa mid-fall.

"Well, we're boned." Evan gulped, noticing the fire ball get larger and larger.

"Reversa, we need to split." Shiva shouted, frantically searching for a way out. "Unless you guys all want to get burnt to a crisp."

"We gotta run." Evan panicked.

Reversa and Nina get onto their feet and notice the fireball heading towards everyone.

"Crap... Let's move!" - Reversa yells as she points towards the stairs.

As she moves up the dirt path towards the stairs, she falls to her knees and clutches her back with one arm.

"Ugh! That brat must have hit a critical spot..." - She growls under her breath.

Nina glares at the fireball with widened eyes while Thalassa shoots a wave of water at it. The wave of water evaporates at the inferno's wake, leaving the Primarina to stare on in horror.

"Oh no, I'm exhausted. I can't stop it!" - Thalassa yells.

"No time to waste!" - The Meloetta yells as she grabs the Primarina by her waist.

She struggles to carry her up. Nina tries to float away with Thalassa in tow, but the inferno catches up to them. They close their eyes and brace for impact but the fireball's overwhelming light gradually disappears.

They turn around and notice that the full force of the attack had been absorbed by the unconscious Heatran. Its eyes fly open as it surges with heat and flames. It shakes the entire room with a furious stomp of its feet, all while letting out a roar.

Nina screams and looks around the crumbling cave at a frantic pace. Molten magma splashes around the room while stone spires fall and pierce through the ground.

"Jeez! Just when I thought things couldn't get any worse! We have to move! Thalassa, at least try to give me a boost with your aqua jets or something!"

"I'll try!" - She nods.

Thalassa slaps the ground behind her and summons a burst of water that shoots her and Nina towards the stairs.

Rhapsody and Hallows cackled as they left the cave, but paused and turned back when they didn't hear the satisfying explosion of the massive fireball. Instead they noticed it get sucked back into the Heatran from before, now full of energy again and very angry.

Rhapsody looked at Hallows. Hallows looked at Rhapsody. They shrugged. Good enough.

Meanwhile, Eser picked himself back up and ran over to Sorin and Barek. "Here!" he said to the newly awakened and de-mystified teammates, grabbing an orb out of his pack. With a flash of light, the three teleported out to the front of the cave.

"W-what happened?" Barek stammered.

"We got out alive. We need to have a talk about unnecessary heroics when we get home."
